    There will come a day that you are sitting on your balcony with your coffee on a sunny afternoon, and you'll realize, "Damn! I'm an adult now" or "time flew so fast. I'm a grown-up now!" All of us will surely come to that so-called "adulting" stage. It is a popular term used to describe a process of growing up and learning how to be independent. Others say that it is a stage of life when you carry out one or more duties and responsibilities expected from mature individuals. 


    Here is a list of possible signs that you enter that adulting stage. It can be true or not to you since studies say that there is no specific age that this stage occurs, and people have different perceptions of what adulting means.


1. You have a budget for the week or month.

    You start paying bills such as utilities. You have a notebook or a note on your phone to keep track of your money allocation. Also, after every payment, you ask yourself, "Where my money goes?" Aside from that, you can also tell the difference between needs and wants.

2. House stuff excites you more than before.

    While scrolling to your shop app, you enjoy looking for home appliances like a rice cooker, vacuum cleaner, etc. You are excited to buy a new trash bin, broom, bed sheets, pillowcases, and even curtains to replace your old ones. You're fond of buying things that make your life easier and your home cleaner.


3. You compare prices of products you buy. 

    You became more practical now. Instead of cashing out or placing the deal instantly, you look for cheaper and better options for you. You also consider those coupons, rewards, and shop deals.


4. Comfort over style.

    Your first consideration in choosing clothes for your wardrobe is their comfortability. You're tired of following trends. As long as your fashion makes you comfortable, you are good to go!

5. You now use your phone calendar feature. 

    You put everything in your calendar and set an appointment for everything. You prefer actual plans rather than spontaneous gimmicks.


6. You spend your rest day as a legit rest day.

    You prefer sleeping rather than scrolling to your socials. You're excited about a weekend night staying in than night parties and hangouts. You no longer desire to stay up until 2 am.


7. You start collecting legal and valid IDs.

    You patiently wait for queues on the nearest government offices to get identification cards like Unified Multi-Purpose Identification (UMID), Postal ID, and Tax Identification Number (TIN) ID.


8. You do your home repairs.

    You start learning home repair skills and processes like fixing aircon leaks, clogged sink, etc.

9. You seldom post on your social media.

    Instead of posting all of your happenings, you only share some valuable posts or relevant articles. Getting hundreds of post reactions isn't your priority anymore. Your inbox is the first thing you open.


10. You read the business and economy sections of a periodical.

Before, you only enjoy answering crossword or reading comic strips. Now, you are interested in business, real-state, and economic-related articles. Aside from that, you also check news about politics.


11. You enjoy going to groceries.

You have a list of things and goods to buy. Comparing products in your cart is a fun thing to do. You enjoy checking nutrition facts, available promos, and discounts.

12. You start saving your friends' phone numbers and email.

    Before, the only way to get in touch with your friends is through Messenger. Now, you manually save their contact details.


13. You start finding a job.

    You start creating profiles on LinkedIn, Job Street, Kalibrr, etc. to find jobs that are related to your skills and hobbies. Thinking your desired career path keeps you awake at night. Purchasing your own house and a car comes in your mind as well.


14. You enjoy spending time alone.

    You find happiness walking, jogging, or eating alone. You sometimes travel with yourself. You realize that spending time with your own company lets you know yourself more.

15. You openly accept people's feedback.

    You are welcoming to other people's opinions and stop making arguments proving your side. You accept constructive criticism without taking offense.


    During this phase of your life, you are reasonably worried about accepting more significant obligations. Some people find themselves lost. But, you must enjoy the process and continuously learn at every step you do along the way. Age does not define adulthood. It's the way you value things and act on life situations.
